My name is Rebecca Evans and I’m a PhD student in English at Duke University. I’m heading into my year of preparing for prelims and plan to use this blog as a way of organizing my reading and research: notes, thoughts, excellent tidbits, big and ambitious Ideas. I work on twentieth-century-to-contemporary American literature, science fiction, and science studies, and am particularly interested in the intersection of literature and deep temporality. (For those who are unfamiliar with this last, admittedly rather fuzzy term, I use it to refer to temporal schema that radically exceed the lifespan of not only human individuals but the human species—schema that are particularly important to evolutionary and environmental science.)
